A burial vault is a lined and sealed outer receptacle that houses the casket. It protects the casket from the weight of the earth as well as heavy maintenance equipment that will pass over the grave. Delivery to Michigan only is available for vaults. Deliverers to the Michigan U.P. has a fuel surcharge based on delivery location.

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in.
